Even since the Oculus Rift developer edition was announced on Kickstarter, many video game developers have taken the advantage of bringing games to the VR market because it had never been explored before like it is being done now. Carbon Studio is an indie game developer which developed an interesting VR game for the Oculus Rift called ALICE VR. In ALICE VR, the player solves immersive puzzles which are inspired by the famous book, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Following is all you need to know about ALICE VR from Carbon Studio:
What is ALICE VR
ALICE VR is a sci-fi adventure VR game developed by indie game developer “Carbon Studio” for the Oculus Rift VR headset with support coming for HTC Vive and Razer OSPR in the future. In ALICE VR, the spaceship, which your character is piloting, faces a shortage of graphene which forces you to land on an alien planet to replenish the supply. During your time on the alien planet, the inhabitants have mysteriously disappeared which makes your task of finding graphene even more difficult.
In ALICE VR, you will be able to explore the alien world and solve exciting puzzles which take you through the story of the main character and the future of the mysteriously disappeared inhabitants. Different puzzles take you to different endings of the game so you can keep revisiting the alien planet and explore something different every time.
Aleksander Caban, founder and art director of Carbon Studio, says that ALICE VR takes inspiration from Lewis Carroll’s famous book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland because the game puts the player in a dream world just how Alice was in a dream world in the book. Pawel Gajda, project manager and social media specialist of Carbon Studio, describes ALICE VR as an adventure sci-fi game exploring the power of VR technology.
ALICE VR Features
In ALICE VR, the player will be able to immerse themselves in the first-person gameplay while solving puzzles inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. In the puzzles, the player will be able to grow, shrink and walk on walls due to the variable gravity of the alien world.
While progressing in the game, you can uncover the history of the alien planet and chose your own path towards different endings. The game is over 3 hours long, but you can play again and again to reach a different ending each time you play.
ALICE VR is powered by the Unreal Engine 4 which is known for its ability to render life like virtual environments.
Supported VR Headsets
Carbon Studio has developed ALICE VR originally for the Oculus Rift VR headset but they announced that they are working for making the game compatible with HTC Vive and Razer OSVR headsets for the future. ALICE VR will also support Oculus Rift’s touch controllers, which are called Oculus Touch, when they will be released later this year. Carbon Studio has also stated that the game can be played without an Oculus Rift headset, but the real fun is playing the game on a VR headset.
ALICE VR will require a mid-ranged or above gaming PC to play at high settings. If you want to play the game with the Oculus Rift, then of course you will need a PC with higher specifications.
ALICE VR was to be released in April 2016 with the release of the Oculus Rift VR headset. Currently the game was greenlit by the community at Steam Greenlight, so we can hope to see it released very soon.
So, this was all you need to know about ALICE VR. ALICE VR one of the most anticipated VR games since it was announced before the Oculus Rift’s release. Since the release of the developer edition of Oculus Rift a few years ago, many indie game developers have focused on developing videogames for VR. So, at the time of Oculus Rift’s and HTC Vive’s release, there are many games waiting to be played.
