Nokia is back to the universe of mobile phones. As we all know Nokia was once the biggest phone maker on the planet and now it is coming back with an all new plan. Nokia is going to launch its new smart phones, feature phones and tablet devices.
The subsidiary of Foxconn Technology Group, FIH Mobile Limited bought remainder of Nokia business from Microsoft and partnered with HMD and Nokia Technologies to again start ‘connecting people’. Foxconn Technology will provide the manufacturing facility for building the smartphones.
Arto Nummela, CEO of HMD stated;
“WE WILL BE COMPLETELY FOCUSED ON CREATING A UNIFIED RANGE OF NOKIA-BRANDED MOBILE PHONES AND TABLETS, WHICH WE KNOW WILL RESONATE WITH CONSUMERS. BRANDING HAS BECOME A CRITICAL DIFFERENTIATOR IN MOBILE PHONES, WHICH IS WHY OUR BUSINESS MODEL IS CENTERED ON THE UNIQUE ASSET OF THE NOKIA BRAND AND OUR EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN SALES AND MARKETING. WE WILL WORK WITH WORLD CLASS PROVIDERS IN MANUFACTURING AND DISTRIBUTION TO MOVE QUICKLY AND DELIVER WHAT CUSTOMERS WANT.”
HMD and Nokia has entered in 10 years based contract in which Nokia has gave all its patents to HMD in order to earn royalty money. The main focus of HMD would be on features phone as that has been Nokia’s. HMD has already planned to invest over 500 million dollars to develop new Nokia device in coming three years.
The upcoming Nokia phones and tablets will be Android based instead of Windows Phone OS. Information regarding when we will see Nokia’s smart phone has not been publicized yet.
